Japanese filter mat is one of the best filter medium for Koi pond. it can transfer toxic ammonia and nitritesto un-toxic nitrates by means of bacteria. This mat supply a large specific surface area for the bacteria to attachto and meantime allows sufficient flow of water to go through the filter without clogging as wel.
The mat is made of polyester fibre and water base glue. It's rigid, easy to handle, easy to clean anddesigned for many years of useful work.
